Mercato infuses slow cooking traditions of Old World Italy with an experimental style and bold take on new Italian-American cuisine, placing primary importance on using ingredients that are at their peak that day. Enjoy appetizers such as the whole grilled artichoke or the Mercato antipasti, a plate to share that includes Italian cured meats, mozzarella, tomato, and grilled and marinated vegetables.Entrees change to reflect the season monthly and weekly, if not daily. Enjoy a traditional meal of beef, pork, and veal bolognese with homemade pappardelle or the favorite – lobster and shrimp “pyramid” pasta with asparagus and parmesan brown butter sauce.Mercato is a cash-only BYOB, open seven days a week; Monday through Thursday, from 5 to 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 11p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 10pm.

Fantastic upscale Italian cooking – including meatballs “even better than nonna's” – keeps the crowds coming to this cash-only BYOB “must-try” in Washington Square West. Whatever the occasion, or the size of the group, Mercato is the ideal place to have your get-together. We offer family-style dining, personally designed menus, cocktail parties, private chef consultations, and even full restaurant buyouts. So keep us in mind next time you feel like celebrating. You’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to Sicily. The largest reservation size accommodated at Mercato is 15 people with a chef’s tasting menu. This includes an artisan and charcuterie for the first course (family style), each guest selects their own appetizer for the second course, and their own entrée or pasta (all specials included) for the third course, and a family style dessert tasting for the fourth course. 16+ guests requires a full buy-out based on your projected guest count. This includes Mercato private all evening with any desired start and end time (for example, 5pm to midnight). The buy-out price point also includes a formal four course dinner with multiple options per course that you customize for your guests after coordinating with myself and the chef to review all potential options. The pricing does not reflect a cost per person but rather the day of the week and for a Friday or Saturday we offer a buy-out at $5,500-$7,700 The restaurant’s capacity is 50 guests and weather permitting, we can also offer the outside. For a day time event, Mercato offers the restaurant completely private with a minimum spend of $1,400-$1,600 (in lieu of a rental fee).

This restaurant is very good we got here late but our server was very pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious and our overall experience was great.

We had our intimate wedding ceremony and dinner here last weekend and we couldn’t have been happier!! Everything was fantastic, from the support and service of the event manager Jenny, the waitstaff and chef, to the simple decor that allowed our flowers and decorations shine. The food was phenomenal! Something for everyone and the staff waited for us to cue the next course so we were able to savour our time together. I cannot recommend Mercato enough for events!!!

We love Mercato! We go for special occasions and whenever we need a good family meal. Mercato has incredible food and a warm, friendly, neighborhood favorite vibe. It's incredible. I highly recommend!

Had our first dining experience at Mercato last night. Needless to say it will definitely not be our last. The atmosphere is is great but the food is exceptional. I could live on the risotto. And the mussels!!!!!! Whatever you do don't miss out on this one.
