About

David Suro, a native of Guadalajara, grew up near agave fields in the state of Jalisco. He went to school with the children of agave farmers and tequila producers. He met his wife Annette in Cancun and moved with her back to Philadelphia and worked at El Metate, the only Mexican restaurant in town. Within a year they bought out the owner and renamed it Tequilas. Celebrate your special event with creative regional Mexican cooking & tequila cocktails in an elegant space with chandelier lighting. Food was great. Happy hour prices were excellent. Service is timely but my service was POOR!!! Luis (with the long hair and pony tail) was horrible. He was more attentive to the other patrons and was not friendly at all. He also became upset when I sent an item back. I am a generous tipper (when the service is good), unfortunately, I did not have this experience. I will not be returning.

This place was incredible. The waiter was very knowledgeable and even carried my cocktail to the table by balancing it on his head! The food was a little pricey but very much worth it. I would definitely come back.

The food was very good and authentic. The food wad presented nicely and had an excellent combination of flavors. The best part of the restaurant was the ornate and orginal wood working done to the house. Highly recommend going. This is an extraordinarily lovely restaurant with excellent service and some of the most delicious Mexican food I have ever tasted. The chips, salsa and another sauce that accompanied them were so unbelievably addicting that we had to restrain ourselves in order to save room for the best tortilla soup I have ever had. The pescado, veggies and rice were simply beyond delicious! Tequila Restaurant more than made Restaurant Week an outstanding affair for Philadelphia.

My absolute favorite place in Philadelphia. They can do no wrong in my eyes. I've been going here for 10 years and not once have I had an issue! The hospitality is extraordinary, not a nice and more genuine staff in all of Philadelphia. No place that I've gone can top this place. The Atmosphere, food, decor and staff is the best of the best! They can garnish my pay check for payment in advance thats how confident I am in this place! Love it here. Always clean and always perfect. This is a give star dining experience. Oh and the very best tequila based cocktails around, PERIOD! If they could improve on one thing it would be... I'll tell u when I find it 😂
