During prohibiton, this bar was transformed into a barber shop. But men went there for more than just a haircut. While, women entered through a secret ladie's entrance. Discover this "old-school" tavern known for their roast beef sandwiches. The Cherry Street Tavern is a notable local landmark. 

The Cherry Street Tavern is located at the corner of 22nd and Cherry Streets in the Logan Square neighborhood of Philadelphia. It’s a local landmark, having been operated in the same location since the early 1900s. For years, The Cherry was owned by local football legend John "Tex" Flannery. Back dining room, filled with Philly sports and historical memorabilia, can accommodate parties for large groups of up to 40 guests. $200-$400 deposit to reserve, applied toward final bill.

Absolute Philly institution. The hot beef is amazing perfect with sharp provolone and if your up for it add the long hots. Great local place, owner is usually there crafting the sandwiches himself during lunch and into the evening. Beer selection is broad featuring macro and microbrews. Highly recommended!

Amazing corner bar that is right in the heart of the city- and it’s over 110 years old! Great beer selection (oh, and try the roast beef sandwich 🤤)! The bartenders were so nice and welcoming, too.

I have lived close to Cherry Street Tavern for four years. I’ve known of the hot roast beef sandwiches for the same amount of time, but never gave it a try. Until tonight. These sandwiches are what was missing in my life and will become a part of my routine moving forward. A neighborhood treasure!!
