About

Penns Woods Winery is the result of Gino Razzi's lifetime of experience in the world of wine. A respected importer and distributor of wine, Gino is an Italian immigrant from Abruzzo, in southern Italy. He settled in the Delaware County area in 1962, where he was fostered by the area's Italian-American community. Gino served four years in the United States Marines then attended college in California. After graduation, he returned to Pennsylvania to rejoin family and friends. With three decades of success as a wine importer, in 1995, Gino turned his experience towards the craft of winemaking.  He finished his first wine in 1997. Symposium, a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo was his first commercially released wine, and was awarded 95 points by Wine Spectator Magazine.  This publication recently honored this wine again with its inclusion in the retrospective article "Italy's Golden Vintage - the 1997 Harvest" in 2007.
Gino's pursuit of perfection led him to his own back yard. In 2002, he began to craft wines from Pennsylvania–grown grapes. To his surprise, he found that great wines can be made in Pennsylvania.

AWFUL: They would not even let our small group onto the property, they are beyond rude and even aggressive, one would say. The experience of going to a winery and enjoying yourself with friends should not be frowned upon - you are a snooty, uptight business and I’ll be sure to let all my wine loving friends know it. Seems odd that You allow dogs and young kids, but not a few close friends. In the end, you did us a favor - for those reading this go to Wayvine for better wine and lovely people who know how to create loyal customers!

This place is a gem. So close to civilization, but feels a world away. Back porch, barn and rolling hills provide a beautiful vista for tasting arguably the best wine in the state (true for whites and reds). The family run operation is personal, friendly and fun. Great place for an afternoon gathering with a group or perfect for a casual date. Check their events page - as there is often fun events planned.

I miss this place. Last year we went like 10 times. Very inviting and friendly staff. Great place to go on the weekend if you are not sure what to do. Bring some chairs and listen to some live music. Bring some food snacks and coloring books for the kid's and you can make a day out of it. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped in for a wine tasting last weekend. Great, Great service. Not too crowded for a weekend, and a beautiful area to enjoy a bottle.
