About

Well, almost... The Valley Green Inn is built on land that was part of a several hundred acre tract purchased from William Penn in 1685. It had absentee owners in England and Ireland until 1791 when it was bought by the Livezey family who ran a large grist mill downstream.

In about the year 1850, Thomas Livezey rented to Edward Rinker about three acres of land on the Wissahickon Creek below and adjoining the stone arch bridge. He was to build a house and had the privilege of having boats on the stream to accommodate picnics. He paid two years rent January 2, 1852 of $50.

Rinker may have first built a smaller dwelling and then soon after built a larger building he named the Valley Green Hotel. There followed a succession of innkeepers throughout the nineteenth century, all who no doubt served catfish, waffles, and chicken dinners; the popular fare of other Wissahickon establishments.

Had an amazing wedding of a friend here. Mostly because of the efforts of the home team.. I'm a guest. Actually, sitting at the dinner table right now. The 1 star is because the staff is either incompetent or they just don't care. They waste too much effort and time or pointless things... Just don't make sense.l

I had my wedding at the Valley Green Inn, this past August. It was absolutely beautiful! Catie G. is the wedding coordinator for the Valley Green Inn. She is the best! Throughout the entire process, she put all my worries to ease. She had everything so organized and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Every time we met with her, she made us feel special and important. On my wedding day- I had no stress, because I knew Catie would make sure everything ran smoothly. My wedding turned out better than I ever dreamed. The food and the service were exceptional, and the venue was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend Catie and the Valley Green for anyone considering it.

Excellent place to visit. Great for walking, jogging and bicycling, including mountain biking some of the designated trails. Also dog friendly to well behaved dogs.

I got the catfish Etouffee and it was tremendous! Our server, Evy, was prompt, refined, and polite. The air conditioning felt rejuvenating after an hour on the trail.

Beautiful restaurant and location! The staff is absolutely wonderful and can make great drinks. Great spot for brunch or private events.
