About

Our history begins in 1785 when the original house was built. A.E. Ford, an industrialist from Philadelphia, bought the property in the late 1800’s as a summer residence. Ford embellished the property with a large addition and interior moldings, as well as creating a 7,000 tree orchard filled with peaches and apples. Ford lived in the house until the 1950’s, when it was purchased by Nancy Riser, VMD. Riser was one of the first female veterinarians in the country. She lived in the farmhouse, raised goats in the barn, and used the carriage house (now Rockdale Music School) as her veterinary office until the 1980’s. The property was then purchased by George and Shirley Cornog, who added the 4,000 sq ft shop at the top of the property and used the barn as an antique shop.

In 2004, Hillwood Farm was purchased by the current owners, Kim and Jerry Fink. They have received The Heritage Award from the Heritage Commission of Delaware County for their continued preservation efforts to this historic property. The barn, located next to Sage Farmhouse, is home to Advanced Engineering and Makin’ Music, businesses owned and operated by Jerry and Kim.

This is one of the most beautiful small wedding venues I've been to. The interior was charming and the lawn was perfect for the setting the bride was looking for. I love the bridal suite and the way it overlooked the courtyard- we could see guests coming in! In addition, the staff was SO friendly and obliging. When my sister tore her dress (eek!) they offered to get a needle and thread to help fix it and did everything possible to make her day special.

Sage is an incredible venue for a rustic style wedding, and they also have amazing staff to help you plan your vision for your big day! We loved Sage from the moment we saw it online. They were very helpful with all aspects leading up to our wedding as well as the day of. The scenery, especially at night, cannot be beat, and they are amazingly affordable for the quality of the venue and the customer service experience.

This is an old farmhouse transformed into a cozy cottage fairytale party or event space for a small wedding, bridal shower or any event. It has plenty of parking with beautiful trees and follage. A lovely grass space with water fountain and dance area for an outdoor ceremony and reception. Hire a catering team or cook your own food. Definitely worth a look for the cost conscience .
